Factorio Rate Calculator
Set a target in items per second, minute or hour. This Factorio rate calculator traces recipes, machine counts, ingredient demand and belts needed to sustain it.

Calculate a production rate
Use the production view as a Factorio material calculator: choose an output, then inspect its full ingredient chain and combined raw resources. The material balance separates item totals from individual recipe steps.
Choose a target rate
Enter a quantity per second, minute or hour. Change units without changing the underlying production demand.
Read upstream demand
Use the resource totals to find ore, coal, water, crude oil and intermediate rates alongside the machines needed for each recipe.
Check transport
Compare each item flow with the selected belt capacity. A result above one means multiple belts; fluid pipe throughput is not modeled.
Try a production plan
Know what the numbers include
Machine counts are steady-state capacity. Rounded build counts show a practical starting point for each recipe step.
Choose the expanded 2.0.55 base-game dataset for oil processing, ore mining, uranium fuel cycles and rocket launches. It supports shared targets, modules, beacons and mining productivity. Furnace fuel is optional; boilers use the selected fuel. Pumpjack field yield, reactor heat and power layouts, Space Age, quality and mods are not modeled.
Common questions
How do I calculate items per minute in Factorio?
Choose an item, enter the desired amount and select per minute. The result shows each recipe's output rate, required machines and combined raw material demand.
How many machines make 60 advanced circuits per minute?
With the 2.0.55 base-game recipes, assembling machine 1 and no modules, the final advanced-circuit step needs 12 machines. Upstream machine counts change with your equipment and recipe settings.
Can I use materials from another factory?
Yes. Mark an ingredient as externally supplied. Its upstream production is removed from this plan, while its required delivery rate remains visible under Resources.
Can this calculate science packs and batteries per minute?
Yes. Choose a science pack or battery as the target, enter the desired rate per minute and adjust the factory settings. The expanded 2.0.55 base-game dataset includes these recipes.
What if an ingredient needs more than one belt or exceeds 45 items per second?
The belt figure is a count, not a throughput cap. Select the belt type and read a value above 1 as demand for multiple belts. Inserter throughput and belt-balancer layouts are not simulated.
